13 Questions with San Pedro’s Vision ahead of new EP – Subconscious Reflection

San Pedro’s Vision are the latest band to tackle our 13 Questions and with a new EP on the horizon, now seemed like a good time to find out a bit more.

San Pedro’s Vision started off in 2016 as a blues based project, but the direction has morphed since then. Their 2019 EP release, Twilight of the Elephant Gods is an unashamed piece of psych / prog rock.

Now with the addition of singer Alannah Pybis the band reckon they’re even heavier and forthcoming EP, Subconscious Reflection, would confirm that to be the case. But you’ll have to wait until mid-November – it will be worth it, though.

We had an advance copy and can confirm it’s a belter. There are echoes of bands such as The Grateful Dead, Tame Impala, Cream, Pink Floyd and The Myrrors, but this is very much a case of bringing those influences to a clear 2020 sound.

The band has been working on Subconscious Reflection over the last few months and describe it as: “an attempt to capture the journey of the mind through the use of psychedelics and a new found heavier sound“.

The EP was tracked and mixed with Jose Ibanez at 3rd Planet Studios and mastered by Graeme Lynch at Two Zero Nine and comprises 3 tracks – 1) The Nerve Centre, 2) Subconscious and 3) Reflection.

Here’s what the band had to say:

1. Where are you and what are you doing?

Bottle: Sitting at home on the couch. Contemplating the intricacies of life and death.
Chris: Watching some kmac meme videos on the couch.
Sam: Debating what gun to use on Zombie Royale.
Alannah: In the living room, picking cactus pricks out of my hand.
Stu: On my way to work

2. What is your favourite view?

Bottle: When everyone is vibing in the practice room and Sam gives me a cheeky smile.
Chris: Everton Park watching the sun set over the mouth of the Mersey.
Sam: Looking out from work over the golf course, the River Dee and Welsh mountains.
Alannah: Anything green.
Stu: The view from the afternoon.

3. What’s your favourite swear word, and why?
Sam, Bottle, Stu and Chris: Fuck, purely for the diversity.
Alannah: Cunt. Even when whispered it has full ferocity.

Stu: Pink Floyd. Pompei.

7. Marmite. Yes or no?

A unanimous “fuck no”.

8. What’s your favourite season and why?

Bottle: Autumn.
Chris: Summer, for the lack of clothing.

Alannah: Ring of fire central glass.
Sam: Copper Water, or a pint. If i’m hangin’ I’ll have a few cans of Grape Fanta.
