DMA’s would have been touring their new album, The Glow, in UK about now. Instead their dates have been re-scheduled and they found the time to answer our 13 Questions.
DMA’s are Tommy O’Dell, Matt Mason and Johnny Took. The band formed in Sydney and made an immediate impression with their self-titled 2014 debut EP.
Their full-length debut, Hills End, saw them crash into Australia’s Top 10, before the second album For Now cemented them as an international force to be reckoned with.
In 2018, they became one of the first Australian bands to play an MTV Unplugged session, following in the footsteps of an alumni that includes Nirvana, Oasis and R.E.M.
An impressive 40,000 tickets were sold for their headline UK tours in 2019, and they continued that ascension with main stage sets at Isle of Wight, TRNSMT and Citadel alongside huge outdoor shows with Courteeners and Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds as well as main support on Liam Gallagher’s 2019 UK arena tour.
The band sold out this year’s London O2 Brixton Academy gig in just hours and performed to a riotous crowd shortly before lockdown in March. They also sold out Manchester Castlefield Bowl in less than 24 hours, currently being rescheduled for 2021, and have announced their biggest London headline show to date at Alexandra Palace.
Third album, The Glow, was released in July and reached number 4 in the UK charts, number 2 in their native Australia. Their star shines bright and lockdown could not have happened at a worse time for the band, with many arguing The Glow is their best and most accomplished work to date.

Since then, DMA’s have re-scheduled a series of UK and Ireland arena dates for spring 2021, including Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena and a brace of dates in Dublin (see below).
In the meantime we fired off our 13 Questions to Tommy O’Dell. Here’s what he had to say:
